Nellore: Kovur Community Health Centre doctors on Sunday successfully removed cotton gauze found in the stomach of a woman. According to sources, Manyam Nirmala, 40, a farm labourer of Vavilla village in Vidavalurmandal, admitted in Nellore government general hospital in February 2015 to remove uterus. Doctors performed surgery and removed her uterus.
Since then Nirmala was suffering from stomach ache and approached a private hospital in Nellore but in vain. Later she admitted in Kovur hospital for treatment. After surgery, Nirmala had suffered with stomach ache and visited a private hospital in Nellore. Private doctors removed a thread from her stomach in 2016. Still, there has been no relief in the situation and the ailment continued.
She finally visited Kovur Community Health Centre on Saturday where doctors found cotton gauze and removed from her stomach. Doctor Yusuf, who performed surgery on Nirmala, said that the condition of woman is stable and doing well.
This is not the first case in Nellore GGH. It may be recalled that Chalapathi, who works in a rice mill had joined the government general hospital on October 3, 2017 with serious stomach ache and the doctors conducted surgery. He was subsequently discharged from the hospital.
Still, he was getting continuous pain even after three weeks. Medical officials suggested X-ray and in which, they found a scissor inside the stomach and they had simply conducted surgery again for removing the equipment.
State Human Rights Commission had taken up the case of Chalapatias suomotu and now Nirmala faced the same situation. When contacted, District Medical and Health Officer Dr C Varasumdaram said he was not aware of the incident. Varasumdaram said that he would respond on the issue after verifying the details with his staff.
