MP vows to streamline traffic in three months

Rajamahendravaram: Residents of cultural capital of the state are facing traffic problems due to lack of proper planning. Traffic congestion is increasing day-by-day as it is becoming hub in the fields of education, medical, hospitality, business and tourism.

Speaking to The Hans India here on Saturday, MP Maganti Murali Mohan said an action plan was devised to streamline traffic movement and put an end to the vows in a span of three months.

He said due to lack of co-ordination between traffic wing, municipal corporation and other related departments, the traffic problems are plaguing the city. The MP said the government has decided to conduct Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC) meeting on the second Friday of every month to review the progress of traffic related works in the city.

At present as many as four traffic signal lights are working as against 31 and many CCTVs are also not working out of 171 arranged during Godavari Maha Pushkaram-2015, he said.

The MP said plans are afoot to acquire latest traffic signal lights along with CCTVs because many of existing cameras are not recording traffic movement. Supply and maintenance of signal lights will be given to one company to avoid further problems, he added.

Stating that the government is spending Rs 15 lakh on each traffic signal, Murali Mohan said the government has decided to acquire funds from various corporate companies and educational institutions under corporate social responsibility.
