Minister for Industries N Amarnath Reddy in Palamaner , Collector PS Pradyumna in Chittoor administer polio drops to children

Tirupati: Polio immunisation programme was held at various places in Chittoor district on Sunday. District Collector PS Pradyumna inaugurated the programme at Ganganapalli Mandal Parishad Elementary School in Chittoor and administered the dose to a child whereas Minister for Industries N Amarnath Reddy had given drops to a child at Palamaneru.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collect said that 4,67,377 children of 0-5 years age group will be given drops during the three days programme up to Tuesday. Those who did not attend the pulse polio booths on Sunday will be given at their doorstep on Monday and Tuesday. He advised all parents who have children below five years of age to take care of administering the drops to them.

Meanwhile, the District Medical and Health department and other line departments took necessary steps for the success of the programme. They have appointed staff for the execution of the programme and planned to cover even the remote areas by sending special teams there. District Medical and Health Officer (DM&HO) Dr S Vijaya Gowri has given polio drops to Collector’s children at his bungalow in Chittoor. ZP Chairperson S Geervani, MLC Rajasimhulu, MLA DK Satyaprabha, Mayor K Hemalatha and others have participated.

In Tirupati, the programme was launched by Chittoor MP Dr N Siva Prasad who had given drops to a baby. Tirupati MLA M Suguna, Municipal Corporation Health Officer Dr Usha Kumari and others participated. Tirupati Municipal Corporation officials made all arrangements to administer the dose to 34,354 children through 157 centres. In Madanapalle Sub Collector Vetri Selvi administered drops and launched the programme at Area Hospital along with Deputy DMHO Dr Surekha. MLA Dr Desai Thippa Reddy, Municipal Chairman K Sivaprasad and others also took part.
