Tirupati: Mild tension prevailed in Nagari on Sunday with the death of a person allegedly due to the reaction of an injection given to him on January 6 at Government Hospital there. The relatives and villagers of the deceased staged dharna in the town by placing the dead body on the highway in front of Government Hospital for five hours. Joint Collector-2 V Chandramouli arrived there, held discussions with family members and officials, and assured them to give Rs.4 lakhs compensation, Anganwadi worker job to the wife of the deceased, and government assistance for education of his children.

The vehicular traffic on Chennai-Tirupati national highway was disrupted for almost five hours. According to sources, two weavers Parthasarathi (37) and Yugandhan (35) of Chintapattada village in Nagari mandal went to Government Hospital in Nagarai on January 6 with complaints of fever and cold and doctors gave them injections. Due to reaction and infection, both of them suffered with severe swelling and they became sick.

It was learnt that they consulted some private doctors also initially and when it became serious, they were shifted to Ruia Hospital in Tirupati. Doctors in Ruia confirmed that infection was aggravated and advised the relatives to take the patients to Chennai, where both the patients were admitted in two different hospitals. Among them, Parthasarathi died on Saturday night whereas Yugandhan’s condition continues to be serious.
