Vijayawada: The city police submitted a detailed report to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu over the alleged land scam in which the central MLA Bonda Umamaheshwara Rao allegedly tried to encroach on the 5.16 acres of land belonging to the family members of a freedom fighter, Kasireddy Suryanarayana.

It may be recalled that the State government had allotted 10.16 acres of land in Ajit Singh Nagar in 1952 to the late freedom fighter in recognition of his services. Later, the descendants of the freedom fighter had sold five acres of land due to personal reasons and are now left with 5.16 acres on their name.

Allegations are being leveled against the central MLA that he had used his power and influence and registered the 5.16 acres land on the name of some other person. The approximate market value of the land is about Rs.40 crore. Later, the same land has been handed over to some developers for the development of the site.

It is also alleged that Bonda Sujata, wife of Bonda Uma is also one of the members in the development project. The CID, after preliminary investigation, registered an FIR and mentioned the name of Bonda Sujata, A8, in the land grabbing scam.

On the other hand, the descendants of the freedom fighter met the Commissioner of Police Gowtham Sawang and informed him how they were cheated by Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and his men and sought justice.

The supporters of Bonda Uma had used a poor man Koteshwara Rao for the transfer of the ownership of the land. According to information Koteshwara Rao, a resident of Ajit Singh Nagar, met a local TDP leader to get Rs.5 lakh private loan on his property.

The followers of MLA reportedly collected signatures on some documents saying that they would give a loan of Rs.5 lakh. The poor man blindly believed it and waited for some months to get loan.

After, some months the followers of Uma told him he could not get the loan due to various reasons and returned some papers back to the Koteshwara Rao. Now, Koteswara Rao is alleging that the signature he put in the Gandhi Nagar Sub-Registrar’s office was used for the transfer of the 5.16 acres land belonging to the freedom fighter to his name.

Koteswara Rao has made it clear that he had not purchased the land and did not hand it over for development purposes to any party. He said the followers of Bonda Uma were exerting pressure on him to accept that he had purchased land from the descendants of the freedom fighter.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu reportedly expressed his anger over the allegations levelled against Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and his wife and followers. City police officials submitted the FIR copy and other details of the incident to the chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu.
