MLA directs villagers to deflate tyres of vehicles
An irate MLA NVSN Varma, as he came to know that heavy vehicles passing through the national high way had damaged the drinking water pipelines, instructed the people of Chitrada village to deflate the tyres of tippers.
Pithapuram: An irate MLA NVSN Varma, as he came to know that heavy vehicles passing through the national high way had damaged the drinking water pipelines, instructed the people of Chitrada village to deflate the tyres of tippers.
It may be noted that the people of the village have not been getting drinking water for the past 15 days as the trucks damaged the water pipelines on NH-216. Acting on the MLA’s directions, the villagers deflated the tipper tyres.
He asked the Rural Water Supply (RWS) department officials to immediately attend to the repair works to the pipeline. The MLA has said that no vehicle should ply on the road till water supply to Chitrada, near here, is restored.
As the pipelines were damaged 15 days ago, water is flowing waste through the leakages. Despite several reminders to RWS department and to NH authorities, no action was taken.
Varma visited Chitrada on Monday interacted with the people. He asked the villagers to deflate the tyres of contract lorries . The villagers complied with the request. He asked SI Sobhan Kumar to file cases against the contract lorries.
He wanted the road expansion works to commence only after restoration of the drinking water supply to the village. He pointed out that the National Highway authorities are not giving importance to the people’s problems on culverts.
Moreover, the NH officials are threatening the villagers to file cases against the villages. The MLA said that he would not be cowed down by filing cases.
