Kadapa: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths caught head constable S Devadanam red-handed on Monday while accepting bribe from B Padmavathi of Yerraguntla town. Devadanam, who was working with the Government Railway Police (GRP) had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for issuing death certificate of her son, who had committed suicide.

ACB DSP S Nagaraju said that B Sivasankar (30), who was working as technician in the Zuari Cement factory at Yerraguntla, had committed suicide by jumping before the train on January 20 at Yerraguntla railway station.

The deceased mother had approached the Devadanam for securing FIR and post-mortem reports. But, the accused had demanded her to pay Rs 10,000 for issuing reports. She lodged a complaint with the ACB. On the directions of the ACB, she agreed to pay him bribe. The ACB registered a case against Devadanam.
