Fourth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court convicted Zonal Manager of Bank of India (BoI), overseas branch, Visakhapatnam, Devireddy Venkata Reddy, in a case filed by a woman employee of the bank B Padmavathi and the court sentenced Venkata Reddy to six months imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000.

Visakhapatnam: Fourth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court convicted Zonal Manager of Bank of India (BoI), overseas branch, Visakhapatnam, Devireddy Venkata Reddy, in a case filed by a woman employee of the bank B Padmavathi and the court sentenced Venkata Reddy to six months imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000.

As per reports, Padmavathi, a computer operator of BoI, had challenged the transfer orders contending that her transfer was against the bank policy and approached the court. Venkata Reddy, manager of BoI at that time started had reportedly harassed Padmavathi in 2007.

Unable to bear the harassment, she had filed a criminal case in the court in February 2008 against Reddy. After several trials, the court found that Reddy harassed the woman employee by misusing his powers and sentenced him to go six months jail term and imposed a fine of Rs 5000.
