Students, teachers and others paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 70th death anniversary in Parvathipuram in the district on Tuesday.

Parvathipuram (Vizianagaram): Students, teachers and others paid rich tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 70th death anniversary in Parvathipuram in the district on Tuesday. Dr D Pari Naidu, convener of ‘Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi’, stated that present generation should know about Mahathma Gandhi and follow his policies and philosophy.

“Don’t think that Gandhi was an individual, he was a power who could unite the entire nation with strong determination. He fought against British and played a key role in getting independence. Though he lost his life long ago, still his policies, teachings have been influencing society.

Later, hundreds of students belonging to Gayatri College participated in a rally taken out to mark the occasion. They took part in a candle light rally and garlanded the statue of Gandhi. P Mani Kumar, G Sivakesava Rao, P Appala Narasaiah and others participated in the programme.
