Srisailam Project: Several copper, brass and iron utensils came to light when a tunnel unearthed while removing stones as part of re-building the Rudraksha Math here on Wednesday.

Articles found during excavation are: basins (2), huge kadai (1), kalash (26), coal-fired oven (1), utensil (1), huge bells (2), small bells (2), anklet bells (6), round utensils (5), broken plates, large plate (1), lamps (1), tortoise-shaped lamp (1), lamps meant for giving arti (6) and small broken goods (19).

According to Srisailam temple Executive Officer Bharat Gupta, the information was passed on to revenue and the police officials. Tahsildar Srinivasulu, local circle inspector Neelakanthayya, station house officer Vara Prasad and others rushed to the spot. The utensils were brought to the administrative building of the temple devasthanam with the help of the temple officials and in the presence of locals.

It may be recalled that the temple has taken up restoration of five of its maths as part of giving facelift to the ancient structures. As part of the exercise, works are under way at Rudraksha Math when the utensils were discovered.
