Vijayawada: Advanced technology and continuous surveillance helps the police department to nab the culprits and recover the valuables which were lost by the people. In one such a case, the police successfully tracked two auto drivers and recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 9.50 lakh from their possession. The crime branch of the city police arrested two auto drivers Gugulotu Venkanna and Gunja Saidulu here on Thursday.

Two women passengers boarded an auto-rikshaw at Benz Circle and travelled up to Varadhi. They had forgotten the hand bag which contained gold ornaments worth Rs.9.50 lakh and immediately lodged a complaint with the police. With the help of modern technology and continuous surveillance on CCTV cameras, police successfully traced the auto-rikshaw and driver Gugulotu Venkanna and arrested him. The auto driver after noticing the bag had not handed over it two women passengers and instead informed to his friend Gunja Saidulu.

They decided to keep the gold jewellery with them. But, due to use of modern equipment, the crime police successfully arrested the duo, said Commissioner of Police D Gowtham Sawang. He addressed a media conference at his office and disclosed the details of the incident.
