Rajamahendravaram: Minister for excise K S Jawahar said that the people were not happy with the Union Budget, in which no funds were allocated to the state and added that the state government too had expressed its displeasure over this.

Speaking to reporters at the Press Club here on Saturday, Jawahar said Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was an able administrator and could overcome the difficulties by sorting out the matters with the Central government. Stating that the TDP was endeavouring to strengthen Dalit leadership in the state, he said Dalit Tejam programme was started by the party from January 26 in this regard.

“Under this programme, Dalit leaders along with their colleagues visit every house to create awareness among the people about the ongoing programmes for SCs and STs. From its inception, our party is striving for the welfare of Dalits,” he said.
Pointing out that TDP had made GMC Balayogi and Pratibha Bharathi as Lok Sabha and Assembly Speakers, the excise minister said plans were afoot to organise a mammoth meeting with one lakh Dalits in Amaravati shortly.

Congress and YSRCP insulted Dalits many a time and the main opposition party had not given any importance to Dalits in the party, he said. Rajamahendravaram rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Choudary said the people in the state cannot be a mere spectators if the Central government do injustice to the state from time to time. “The Central government has not allocated funds to Polavaram project, Amaravati and many others. What is the problem to the Central government for sanctioning Visakhapatnam railway zone? How it is giving away the railway properties of Visakhapatnam to other states?” he said.

Alleging that the Central government was trying to dilute federal system in the country by turning state governments puppets, he asked what was the need for the state government to stand before New Delhi with begging bowls. Choudary said the Chief Minister had also expressed concern over the Budget and he would take a right decision in right time.
