Kurnool: District Collector S Satyanarayana called upon the people to make use of the social welfare schemes to strengthen their financial status. He made a surprise visit to Puttapasam village in Gonegandla mandal and inspected the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) works at a burial ground on Friday.

Later speaking to the workers, the Collector assured of providing works under the NREGS. He has inspected the job cards provided in the village and enquired with them about any irregularities in getting pensions and ration cards.

They informed the Collector that they did not face any difficulties to get pensions and ration cards. However, workers brought to the notice of the Collector that the bankers are deducting their NREGS amount deposited in the account under the outstanding agriculture loans.

They urged the Collector to instruct the bankers no to deduct their amounts. On the request of the workers, the Collector immediately called the LDM over phone and ordered him not to link the NREGS amount to their agriculture loans.

The workers also informed the Collector that the HNSS water is passing through their farm lands and requested him to stop water entering their lands. The Collector assured workers that he will see that the water is diverted.

Satyanarayana has directed the District Water Management Agency (DWMA) Project Director Pulla Reddy to provide works under the NREGS to the villagers and prevent migration from the district. Other officials were present with the Collector during his surprise visit to Puttapasam village.
