Accused went to gulf two-and-a-half years ago and returned home six months back

According to police, Mallula Venkateswara Rao (35) married Sita Mahalakshmi (30) 13 years back. The couple were blessed with two children. Venkateswara Rao went to gulf two-and-half years ago and returned to Mandavaripeta six months back.

He was suspecting the fidelity of his wife from the first day onwards when he returned from the gulf.

The couple were quarrelling daily over the issue. The elders of the village tried to settle their problems but in vain. In the early hours on Friday, Venkateswara Rao took an iron rod and went into the house where his wife Sita Mahalakshmi was sleeping.

He beat her up on the head with the iron rod resulting in her instantaneous death.
Later Venkateswara Rao went to Narsapur rural police station and surrendered.

The victim told the police that he killed his wife because she was having an illicit affair. Narsapur rural CI Rama Rao is investigating the case. The police arrested the accused on Friday morning.
