Visakhapatnam: “There is a good scope for women to develop as entrepreneurs in all the sectors and they will cross mega milestones than men entrepreneurs. However, women entrepreneurs should be encouraged by banks and other financial institutions,” women entrepreneurs opined.

A workshop on ‘Women entrepreneurship and boardroom diversity’ organised by Institute of Directors (IoD) at Andhra University here on Friday. Delivering a key note address in the workshop, Executive Director of Heritage Foods Limited Nara Brahmani said that women entrepreneurship and boardroom diversity is a key of economic growth and development.

Women entrepreneurship and boardroom diversity development played an important role in achieving the goals of development in self-employment in specific and industrial development as a whole. The entrepreneurship development assists the people to improve the standard of living, Brahmani said.

Addressing a gathering, Joint Collector G Srijana said that since 1991, the Centre adopted liberalisation, privatisation and globalisation. It provided accelerated growth to economy. But it is found that some strata of society are socially, educationally and financially excluded.

Therefore, there is a need to provide them opportunity to venture into commercial enterprises, so as they would attain their livelihood as well as they can improve their economic condition, she added.

Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University G Nageswara Rao and Honorary Secretary of Institute of Directors, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Shiva Rao Tummalapalli also spoke.
