Visakhapatnam: City police crime were a worried a lot after three illegal country-made firearms manufactured in Bihar found in the possession of inter-state and local criminal gangs.

On Saturday, city police were shocked after finding three country-made firearms with dreaded dacoits from Bihar and parts of Vizag city while they were planning to strike in the city again. With the arrest of the 14-member dacoit gang (fivefrom Bihar and nine, residents of the city), the cops have prevented many possible dacoities in the city.

The police seized three thamanchas with seven rounds of bullets, one button knife, 120 grams of gold, 1.2 kgs of silver, one car, one auto-rickshaw, two bikes and 3.5 kgs of dry ganja. During the investigation, the gang has confessed to three property offences including the Darapalem dacoity under Arilova Police station limits in Vizag city on July 2017 and two more dacoities - one at MVP Colony against an old couple and another at Anakapalle.

Addressing the media,ShemushiBajpayee, DCP (Crimes), on Saturday said that the arrested have been identified as Mohammad Ali, Randheer Kumar, Reetham Kumar, Sujith Kumar and Bablu Kumar, all were native of Bihar and nine more persons led by TamriBhagyaraj Kumar were from different parts of the city. Mohammad Ali was a resident of Arilova area and worked as a tile worker. He is allegedly a member of local dacoity gang led by K Suresh Kumar and Bhagyaraj Kumar.

Explaining the details, V Suresh Babu ADCP (Crimes) said that Ali along with the local gang would plan the dacoity meticulously and used to conduct a recce of the targeted houses (mostly houses located in city’s outskirts) and they used to hire the professional dacoity gang (Bihari Gang) to commit the crime at houses in isolated places.

The gang forcefully barged into a house of government teacher K Satyanarayana at Darapalem area under Arilova Police Station limits in Vizag city in July 2017, threatened the inmates with guns and sharp-edged weapons and made good with 240 grams of gold ornaments.

The same gang also escaped with about 360 grams of gold jewellery and Rupees one lakh cash and few others after holding hostage a 74-year-old woman M Sarojini at MVP Colony area in city. The police said that the gang select the houses of rich, where the inmates is less in number and commit the crime.

Based on concrete information on one of the accused in the gang, the police laid trap since one month to nab the 17 accused. However, the police managed to nab 14 of the 17-member gang and trace was on to nab three others, says ACP Govind Rao (CCS). The police booked the accused under various sections and also NDPS Act.
