Eluru: Four burglars barged into a house at Kalagampudi village in Yalamanchili mandal and decamped with gold ornaments from an old woman after tying up her husband.

According to police, P V Ramana Raju (86) and his wife Kasi Annapoorna are residents of Kalagampudi village in Yalamanchili mandal. Their two children were residing in Hyderabad. The old couple were alone living in their own house in the village.

In the early hours of Sunday, four miscreants came and broke open the main door. They entered the house and tied up the old man Ramana Raju. They also threatened his wife Annapoornamma and took away her gold chains, bangles and the belongings from the almirah.

In the morning, the old couple came out of their house and informed the matter to their neighbours who in turn, complained to the Yalamanchili police.

On receiving information, Narsapur DSP T Prabhakara Babu, Palacole Rural Circle-Inspector of Police K Rajani Kumar, Yalamanchili Sub-Inspector Surendra Kumar rushed to the spot. The dog squads and clues team were pressed into service. A case has been registered and investigation is on.
