Vijayawada: In a tragic incident, a first year MBA student committed suicide by jumping into Krishna river from the Prakasam Barrage on Sunday. Tireless efforts made by the rescue teams and local expert swimmers to save the life of the youth did not yield results.

According to One Town police, Shaik Nagur, a resident of Darsipeta, Patamata, Vijayawada, jumped into Krishna river at 4 pm after he had a dispute with his father Mastan Basha, an ambulance driver in a private hospital. After the dispute with his father, Nagur came to the Prakasam Barrage with his fried on bike and parked the vehicle on the road and immediately jumped into the river.

Onlookers on the barrage noticed and alerted the disaster response team and local fishermen who swung into action. After one-hour search, they traced the body and shifted it to the government hospital. Nagur’s father Mastan Basha on Sunday reprimanded his son for not concentrating on studies. Upset with it, he ended his life.
