Addressing the media, Managing Director of Fujifilm India Haruto Iwata said about 1.55 lakh new cases of breast cancer are being detected annually in the country out of which 76,000 women die due to breast cancer.

Visakhapatnam: The Fujifilm India Limited and city-based Vijaya Medical Centre joined hands here on Sunday to install Fujifilm’s state-of-the-art Amulet Innovality (Full Field digital mammography and 3D breast tomosynthesis), a highly advanced breast cancer diagnostic machine, that has made early detection of breast cancer a reality for women. It is the first of its kind medical service started in the city and will serve the cancer patients in the north coastal districts.

Addressing the media, Managing Director of Fujifilm India Haruto Iwata said about 1.55 lakh new cases of breast cancer are being detected annually in the country out of which 76,000 women die due to breast cancer. “With the increasing incidence of breast cancer in female population, it is imperative for healthcare providers to step up and provide women the best and precise early detection screening facilities that can help save lives. The Amulet Innovality is one such product that has made early detection of breast cancer a reality for women, he added.

Managing Director of Vijaya Medical Centre Dr Suman Kalagara said that the partnership with Fujifilm is to strengthen the imaging facility for women to aid early detection of breast cancer. The Amulet Innovality Full Field digital mammography and 3D breast tomosynthesis uses advanced tomosynthesis technology to enable the conversion of digital breast images into 3-D reconstruction of the breast, in contrast to the flat images produced by traditional 2-D digital mammography.
