Three-day Global Shanti Amaravati Buddhist festival concluded on a high note at the PWD grounds here on Monday. On the concluding day of the fest, cultural programmes were performed by participants from India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, Malaysia, China, Japan, Bangladesh, United States and United Kingdom.

Vijayawada: Three-day Global Shanti Amaravati Buddhist festival concluded on a high note at the PWD grounds here on Monday. On the concluding day of the fest, cultural programmes were performed by participants from India, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan, Malaysia, China, Japan, Bangladesh, United States and United Kingdom.

The Buddhist festival started with morning chanting and Shanti Yatra by the monks every day. All the monks visited Buddhist heritage sites situated at Amaravati, Ghantasala, Bhattiprolu, Undavalli caves and Nagarjuna Sagar. After concluding the programmes on the first day there was a personal video message from Dalai Lama and an inspiring speech of Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya.

There were many outstanding performances from Indian and International troops. To name a few Shovana Narayan, Dr Sri Rama, Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya Buddhist Dance Mandal and Tenzin Kochi of snowline of cultural society of Twang dynasty. On the second day of the festival, history was created for global peace by chanting the three rafts Theravada, Mahayana and Vajrayana.

The monks performed the chanting which was supported by thousands of followers from India, UK, US, Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, Canada, Singapore, Switzerland and Saudi Arabia to name a few. As many as 45,000 people connected digitally through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and www.globalshanti.in.
