College librarian dies as lorry hits bike
The villagers resorted to road blockade at Devarapalli village in West Godavari district on National Highway, following the death of college librarian on Mondaynight. Due to the Road Blockade by the villagers, vehicular traffic stranded to a stretch of 5 kmson both Kovvuru and Eluru sides.

According to information, GJ Victor (48), Librarian of DHSRVL College in Devarapalli was going to the College on a bike around 7.00 p.m. When he reached the Devarapallicentre, a speeding lorry hit his bike from the rear. In the incident, he died on the spot.
The irate villagers immediately started agitation expressing their anger over the officials’ negligence in controlling the lorries and other vehicles on National Highway.
They stated that on several occasions earlier they requested the officials not to allow heavy vehicles on National Highway between Gundugolanu-Kovvuru. Bu the officials did not heed to their requests. Accidents occurred many times due to heavy traffic.
They demanded the Collector and SP to come to Devarapalli immediately. Following the Rasta Roko on National Highway, traffic was halted up to five kmson Kovvuruside and five kmstowards the Bhimadole side.
The Devarapalli Sub Inspector P Vasu, along with his personnel, reached the spot and tried to convince the villagers to withdraw their rasta-roko. However, the villagers are reluctant to withdraw their stir.
They stated that they will burn the lorry which hit the librarian, who was very friendly in the College. The College students also joined the agitation. The villagers did not withdraw the agitationtill late night.
