The Urban Police have nabbed four inter district thieves and recovered Rs 36 lakh worth of gold and silver ornaments,along with mobile phones and bikes from them. They were produced in the court here on Monday and were remanded for 14 days custody.

Rajamahendravaram: The Urban Police have nabbed four inter district thieves and recovered Rs 36 lakh worth of gold and silver ornaments,along with mobile phones and bikes from them. They were produced in the court here on Monday and were remanded for 14 days custody.

Disclosing the details at a Press conference at Police Guest House here on Monday, urban Superintendent of Police B Raja Kumari said that the accused were arrested near a sand ramp on Godavari bund on Sunday when they were moving in a suspicious manner.

The main accused Avula Kiran Kumar alias Rahul alias Kiran belongs to Mahabubnagar district and Korumilli Satya Sai PandurangaVittal alias Vittal, UrlaSrinivasa Rao and Manepalli Veera Venkata Surya Satya Naga Mohan Gupta belong to Nidadavolu town of West Godavari district.

They have involved in many thefts in Hyderabad, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam, Eluru and Tirupati townsand also in Prakash Nagar and Bommuru police station limits in Rajamahendravaram. In a span of two months, the gang involved in 12 thefts in various apartments between 9a.mto 1 p.m.

The prime accused Avula Kiran Kumar involved in many thefts from the year 2006 and he went to jail many a time and came out on bail. Recently, he came out on bail from Visakhapatnam jail with the help of his friend Krishna last year and had stolen some property from an apartment in Visakhapatnam and Visakhapatnam police also arrested Krishna.

The four accused became friends in jail and Avula Kiran Kumar used to take the help of remaining three miscreants for doing thefts. As many as 70 cases were registered against Avula Kiran Kumar and the police of both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana are searching for him.

Police recovered 1004gms of gold ornaments, six kgs of silver ornaments, two Activa motor bikes, five mobile phones, one iron rod bit to break the doors and 63US dollars.

Under the aegis of central zone Deputy Superintendent of Police J Kula Sekhar, One Town Inspector M Ravindra andSub-Inspector Raja Sekhar, along with their personnel, chased and caught them at sand ramp. The efforts of police team were appreciated by the higher officials in nabbing the gang.
