Maha Shivaratri 2018: All the Shaivite temples in the district are being spruced for Maha Sivaratri  festival on February 12.  Devotees firmly believe that visiting Siva shrines and observing Jagarana (staying awake all night) on Sivaratri would absolve them of their sins.

Kadapa: All the Shaivite temples in the district are being spruced for Maha Sivaratri festival on February 12. Devotees firmly believe that visiting Siva shrines and observing Jagarana (staying awake all night) on Sivaratri would absolve them of their sins.

There are about 150 big and small Shaivite temples in the district. Expecting pilgrim rush, the APSRTC Regional Manager Changal Reddy said that the Corporation is arranging as many as 300 special services under the purview of 8 depots in the district.

Endowment Assistant Commissioner Sankara Balaji said that his department is making elaborate arrangements for the convenience of the devotees.

Kadapa DRO Babaiah has stated the district administration is ensuring all precautionary measures to prevent untoward incidents as most of the temples located in hillock areas. The DRO said that district officials were deployed as special officers for important 15 Shaivite temples to supervise the arrangements.
