Amaravati: A Thailand delegation told Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu that the southeast Asian country was ready to construct a Buddhist temple in Andhra Pradesh. The delegation met the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

Reacting to their proposal, Naidu explained that the government would allot 10 acres land at the heart of Amaravati capital city for the temple and requested them to come up with a Detailed Project Report.

The delegation, led by Thailand Consul General, Chennai, Krongkanit Rakcharoen, also explained that the Thai Airways was ready to operate direct flights from Andhra Pradesh to Thailand, either from Vijayawada or Visakhapatnam airports in the state very soon.

In response, the Chief Minister requested them to start the international flights from Vijayawada, which would be connected with the state capital city Amaravati.

She explained that they wanted to support development of the Buddhist learning centre at Acharya Nagarjuna University and spread the message of Buddhism in a big way in the state.
