Hyderabad: IndiGo, India’s largest and fastest growing low-cost carrier, has announced Vijayawada as its 50th destination on its route network. Effective March 2, 2018, IndiGo will operate three daily direct flights from Vijayawada to Hyderabad and one daily direct flight each to Bengaluru and Chennai respectively. The new service to Vijayawada is part of IndiGo’s plan to establish the growing importance of emerging domestic sectors from south India.

Sanjay Kumar, Chief Commercial Officer, IndiGo, said: “It gives us immense pleasure to introduce services from Vijayawada. Year 2017 was a great year from growth and expansion as the airline clocked many milestones. In the coming years, we will continue to expand our network to meet the requirements of both business and leisure travellers.”

Apart from this, Vijayawada will also be connected to many new cities on IndiGo’s existing network of Airbus 320s and ATRs. IndiGo will connect Vijayawada to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Dubai, Singapore, Sharjah among other cities via Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai, according to a release.

Both corporate and leisure customers travelling from Vijayawada will now have the opportunity to experience the hassle-free, on-time performance that IndiGo is synonymous with. In line with company’s growth strategy, the airline has also inducted a brand new Airbus A320 NEO aircraft into its existing fleet taking the overall count to 153 aircraft.

The launch of Vijayawada comes just after the carrier’s first ATR flight on Hyderabad – Mangalore sector on December 21, 2017. IndiGo, boosting regional connectivity also commenced operations from Rajahmundry and Tirupati in January 2018.
