Tirupati: Living with good thoughts and best practices was the essence of the principles preached by Gautama Buddha, stressed the Buddhist monks.

Speaking at the annual conclave of Buddhist Society of India (BSI) in Tirupati on Saturday, monks Sanghapala Bantheji and Analio Bantheji opined that lack of self-restraint was the cause of all sorrows and one who controls his mind can get rid of evil effects.

Gautama Buddha has not given any method to clean up the mind but living with carefulness was the only way out to live peacefully.

Former IPS officer Anjaneya Reddy opined that only Buddhism is the answer for the caste oriented society as all the efforts to eradicate the social evil along with untouchability went in vain.

He recalled that after 30 years of study, Ambedkar also realised that only Buddhism could help in removing caste system in the country and he embraced it.In fact the real Indian culture is Buddhism only, he stressed. Advocate M Gouthami, writer K Balakrishna Reddy and Seelam Prabhakar also spoke on the occasion.

Buddhist Society State president SSR Bhupathi presided over the conference. Before the inauguration of conference, Panchaseela flag was hoisted by BSI national president Chandrabhanu Haridas Patil whereas conference convenor G Govindaswamy unfurled the ‘Dharma Patakam.’

Retired Judge D Gurrappa, Dinakara Murthy, Dr Bhaskar Rao, Dharma Rao, M Nagaraju, Suresh and others took part.
