Special Investigation Team records statements of Ayesha Meera’s parents

Guntur: Special Investigation Team led by DIG Ch Srikanth came to Tenali town on Sunday to record the statements of Ayesha Meera's father Iqabal Basha and her mother Shamshad Begam. As part of investigation, the DIG asked various questions and recorded the statements of Ayesha Meera’s father and mother.

The parents of Ayesha Meera requested the SIT officials to do justice to them and see that such incidents never repeat in future. Following the orders of the High Court, the government set up a SIT to reinvestigate the murder and rape of B Pharmacy student Ayesha Meera.

Speaking to media, Ayesha Meera father Iqabal Basha said they believe in reinvestigation by the SIT team and added that everybody knows who real culprit is. They said that the facts will come out if warden Padma, her husband and other students in the hostel were questioned.

Even after 11 years, the government failed to arrest the culprits and a person who diluted the case earlier, was now member of SIT, he said. He asked as to why she did not come to Tenali along with other officials today.
