Vijayawada: Discontent among the ruling party TDP corporators is brewing against Mayor Koneru Sridhar, who is enjoying power since the VMC elections in 2014. Majority TDP corporators including senior corporator Chennupati Gandhi and TDP floor leader G Haribabu are unhappy with the unilateral attitude of the city Mayor.

More than 20 TDP corporators met the TDP urban president and MLC Buddha Venkanna and narrated their problems. The TDP corporators are planning to unseat Mayor Sridhar alleging that he is taking decisions unilaterally and not giving due respect to corporators.

The TDP corporators are enjoying the support of East MLA Gadde Rammohan, who is also unhappy with the attitude of mayor. TDP has 38 corporators in 59 municipal divisions of the city.

Gadde Rammohan and Mayor Koneru Sridhar have differences for the last few months. Similarly, Buddha Venkanna is also not happy with the attitude of mayor. The rebel corporators are planning to meet IT minister Nara Lokesh or Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and explain the reasons why they are asking for change of mayoral post.

East MLA has reportedly told the Chief Minister about the need of changing the mayor in the city. Discussions are continuing among TDP corporators when to meet the Chief Minister or the IT minister.
