The Central government withheld Rs 350 crore released under grant to backward districts of AP including Rayalaseema and North Andhra explained Kutumba Rao, Deputy Chairman of AP Planning Board.

The Centre has been releasing Rs 350 crore per annum for seven backward districts in the State for the last four years. Expressing concern over the failure of the Centre to release the grants, he said, “We are in cooperative federalism but not in dictatorship governance or monarchy rule.”

Reacting on submission of utilisation certificates, he pointed out that AP was among the top three States of the total 29 States in the country in submitting them.

He criticised the Central government for not preparing even Detailed Project Reports for the Central institutions. But, the State government had submitted all the required DPRs to the Central government and they accepted in principle.

Kutumba Rao said the Centre has to fill the revenue deficit. He said that the Central government has to clear dues to a tune of Rs 9,000 crore to State, regarding revenue deficit. The BJP leaders were misleading public on this issue too, he added.
