Visakhapatnam: Aiming to achieve first rank in Swachh Survekshan-2018, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation made the city clean and beautiful. The Central team of the Swachh Survekshan arrived here on Thursday. The five-member team will visit various localities and interact with the people and take the feedback on the cleanliness and beauty of the city.

During the Swachh Survekshan-2017, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation scored third rank in the country. Targeting the number one rank in 2018, the corporation has been taking several steps for the past several months. With this, the roads, parks and colonies have become very clean. All the important islands have been beautified.

The officials have been visiting high footfall places to ensure the sites look more attractive. The important junctions and major walls have been decorated with new graffiti with colours also on the sloppy tunnels under the city bridges. The wet and dry dustbins and garbage collection points were attracting the public and creating awareness about waste segregation.

The plastic waste and other wastes were collected by specialised machines. Roads and city lanes were designed with new paintings on the old alignments. Saplings were planted along the highways.

The GVMC officials called upon the people to give their best feedback on the programmes taken up by the GVMC in their localities. They also urged the people, when the team comes to their localities, public should give their best opinion as their opinions helps in securing the best rank to the city.

The five-member team will visit some areas in the city with a questionnaire consisting of six questions on maintenance of hygiene across the city by GVMC and public satisfaction levels towards the programmes.
