Woman cheated by lover stages protest

Visakhapatnam: A 19-year-old woman, along with newborn baby girl staged a protest, along with her parents, in front of One Town Police Station here on Saturday demanding justice and action against the accused who impregnated her and fled.

According to police, Devi (19), was staying at Chilakapeta near One Town area with her parents B Chinna Appa Rao and Demuduamma. The accused Chintakayala Ayyanna alias Pardhu (22), along with his family came to Chilakapeta from Mutyalammapalem five years ago. They are in love since four years and it led to physical intimacy. Subsequently, she became pregnant.

When Devi disclosed about Pardhu, her parents lodged a complaint against Pardu. On February 15, police arrested the accused during the interrogation, he confessed to having physical relationship with Devi and agreed to marry her in front of local leaders. But on February 16, the accused had changed his mind and rejected to marry her.

On February 17, again the victim parents approached One Town police but in vain . Therefore, victim’s parents, along with social activists and local leaders, staged a protest demanding justice to the victim in front of police station as the police did not register an FIR.
