Legal metrology dept conducts raids in Guntur, 44 cases booked

The Guntur Legal Metrology authorities on Saturday conducted widespread raids in various parts of the district. In the raids in Ponnur and Bapatla, several cases of underweighting of rice bags came to light.

The authorities filed as many as 44 cases in this connection. They found that the 25 kg rice bags were weighing at least two to three kgs less.

Legal Metrology deputy commissioner Swamy called upon the people to lodge complaints if they come across any case of irregularities or under weighing. He said the legal metrology department will set up a balance in the Guntur fish market also. This is being done in view of the widespread complaints of wrong weighing in the market.
