Kakinada: Land acquisition for all Polavaram Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) works in East Godavari district should be completed by March 10, said district collector Kartikeya Mishra.

While reviewing the progress of R&R works of Polavaram project at the collectorate here on Wednesday, Mishra said that acquisition of land for submergence was completed and was handed over to the project officers of both ITDAs in the district.

For land-for-land, of the total 1,825 acres, 1633 acre was acquired in non-marooned villages, he said and instructed the R&R officials to complete the remaining by February 27. Of the 581 acre land proposed to be acquired for 15 R&R colonies, 542 acre was acquired and the acquisition should be completed in 10 days, he said.

The collector said one R&R colony was proposed at Krishnunipalem village in Gokavaram, mandal for the affected non-tribals to cover a total of 1,552 families of Rampachodavaram and Chintoor ITDA areas.

In this connection, Mishra directed the project officers of both ITDAs to interact with the non-tribals with a direction to shift to the colony proposed in the non-schedule area in either of the districts. Reviewing payment of compensation to the structures affected, the collector instructed the R&B department officials to complete the valuation of structures by February 28.

The collector directed the departments concerned to take up infrastructure facilities in the R &R colonies. He directed the SE, panchayat raj, to take up underground drainage in all the 15 colonies with the convergence of NREGS and to provide additional rooms for establishing digital classrooms, and further modern Anganwadi buildings would also be provided in all colonies with the support of Cairn Energy.

One primary health centre each at Rampachodavarm and Chintoor and one medical centre each in all the colonies would also be established, Mishra added. Schools in each colony and one Ekalavya school in each of the two ITDA R &R colonies were also suggested by the collector.

Joint collector A Mallikarjuna, J Radhakrishna Murthy, Special Collector Polavaram Project Ch Bhanu Prasad, SE R &B CSN Murthy and ITDA project officers Dinesh Kumar and Abhishikth Kishore participated the meeting through a video conference.
