  • Suguna questions them why CM’s photo not printed on flexies

In government sector, it was the only hospital in the state after bifurcation which was having all super specialities and other amenities, the Minister stated, adding biggest dialysis centre with 100 dialysis units in Asia are in SVIMS only. Out of them, only 70 were functioning now and another 30 will start functioning soon.

The President of India Ram Nath Kovind during his last visit to the SVIMS has praised it and surprised as if it was a government hospital, Kamineni recollected. SVIMS was established sometime after NIMS and after bifurcation AP was left with SVIMS only.

In the governing council, discussions were held on providing financial stability to SVIMS. Till now, the SVIMS has no salary budget and today we have requested the government to provide Rs 50 crore for salary and maintenance budget and asked for releasing of some funds which the government has agreed, said SVIMS Director-cum-Vice-Chancellor Dr TS Ravikumar.

On the foundation day celebrations, two major collaborations and two major centres of excellence will be announced, he said. Meanwhile, Tirupati MLA M Suguna protested against SVIMS authorities at Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women where the Minister’s programme was being held.

She alleged that the authorities were not following the protocol and not inviting her for any programmes. She even raised objection that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu’s photo was not there in any of the flexies though he was the chairman of the governing council. The Minister tried to pacify her but after his departure she spoke to the media and expressed anger on SVIMS authorities.
