Guntur: Civil supplies minister Prathipati Pulla Rao directed the officials to set up 1,500 Chandranna village malls by March and another 6,500 village malls by June in the state. He conducted a video-conference with joint collectors and district supply officers of 13 districts in the state from here on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Pulla Rao said the government was opening large number of village malls as it aimed to supply essential commodities at reasonable rates to poor. He asked the officials to make all efforts to set up village malls in a speedy manner without giving room for corruption.

Stating that the fair price shops should be opened as per scheduled time, the minister said if the dealers violate the norms, the district supply officers and revenue divisional officers would act against them.

He also directed the officials to take stern action if the PDS rice was found recycled anywhere in the state and implement e-Pass system for fair price shops.

He instructed the officials to implement social-audit system and directed the collector, joint collectors, RDOs and district supply officers to conduct surprise checks on fair price shops to check irregularities.

Civil supplies commissioner B Rajasekhar, Civil Supplies Corporation Managing Director B Ramagopal, Civil Supplies Corporation Director Ravi Babu were among those participated in the video-conference.
