Amaravati: Minister for Social and Tribal Welfare Nakka Ananda Babu said that state government decided to conduct a common entrance test for admissions into schools of SC Welfare, ST Welfare, BC Welfare departments and AP Residential Schools replacing separate tests.

The common entrance test will be conducted on April 8 for 2018-19 academic year. Speaking to reporters at Secretariat here on Thursday, the Minister said a new system of common entrance test (CET), in the place of separate entrance tests, for admissions into SC Welfare, ST Welfare, BC Welfare schools and AP residential schools would be conducted from the next academic year.

The students, who want admission into 5th class (English medium), have to attend the entrance exam.“So far, Students have been attending four separate entrance tests to get admissions into these schools. Chief Minister N Chandrababau Naidu directed to conduct common entrance test to the students which will give a big relief to them,” the minister said.

The Minister also released entrance test schedule. ``The entrance test will be conducted on April 8 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students in the age group between 10-13 years and completed forth class are eligible for the test,” he said. He also said that they were expecting around one lakh applications for total seats of 24, 820.

The last date for apply online is March 23. For other details, students can visit www.apgpcet.apcfss.in. Social Welfare secretary K V Ramulu and Tribal Welfare Secretary D Vasu were also present at the press meet.
