Vijayawada: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president N Raghuveera Reddy on Wednesday wrote letters to the mainstream political parties in the state urging them to join hands to fight collectively to get the Special Category Status (SCS) and to get the assurances made in the AP Reorganisation Act fulfilled.

Raghuveera Reddy wrote to TDP state president Kimidi Kala Venkata Rao, CPI state secretary K Ramakrishna, YSRCP president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, CPM state secretary P Madhu and Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan.

The PCC chief said the Congress strongly believes that all promises made by former prime minister Manmohan Singh in 2014 to the state must be fulfilled at any cost. He said the former prime minister assured the state granting of SCS and other benefits as per the Reorganisation Act.

He said that the people of Andhra Pradesh are extremely concerned over the poor allocation of funds to the state in the recently presented fifth annual budget by the Union government.

He said a time has come for all the political parties to fight collectively against the injustice meted out to the five crore Telugu people. He said that the final battle would begin in March during the budget session of Parliament when the Congress party is planning for agitation from March 6 to 8 in and outside Parliament. He has appealed to the political parties to participate in the agitation in the capital for the cause of Andhra Pradesh.
