Visakhapatnam: The CPM demanded that the State government release a white paper on the investments made in north Andhra districts. The party leaders raised several doubts on the state government’s announcements that the region has received huge investments by which a large number of jobs were created in the region.

Speaking to the media here on Wednesday, CPM City Secretary B Ganga Rao and Rural District Secretary K Lokanatham demanded release of white paper. They termed the third CIIs International Partnership Summit as a farce and alleged that the government has been making elaborate arrangements by wasting large sums of public money only for publicity. Instead of fighting against the Centre for Special Category Status, the state government was misleading the people of Andhra Pradesh by organising such mega events, they alleged.

“Instead of fighting for the captive mines for Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, the state government is wasting its precious time and thereby, claiming that huge investments were received. Industrial development means that the government should take measures to strengthen the existing units and not sell the public assets,” Ganga Rao pointed out.

The government had announced that WIPRO and Mahendra Tech, as per their assurances to the government, had agreed to provide 37,000 jobs to the local youth. But, in reality, nothing was done so far. The government has given large stretches of prime lands in the city to both the companies.
