A four-day workshop on printmaking titled ‘Intaglio’ commenced at Yogi Vemana University (YVU) here from Thursday. The faculty of the department K Mrutyunjaya Rao introduced V Prasanth, the resource person, who explained the technique of intaglio, to the distinguished guests. YVU Vice-Chancellor Prof A Ramachandra Reddy inaugurated the workshop by lighting the lamp.

University Registrar Prof K Chandraiah, college Principal Prof K Satyanarayana Reddy, Central Sahitya Akademi winner Prof Kethu Viswanadha Reddy, Prof T Ramprasad Reddy graced the occasion as guests of honour. Nearly 40 students and five faculty members are going to explore the possibilities in the printmaking methods in the workshop.

The V-C spoke that Intaglio is a branch of visual arts form, the fusion of technique and creativity. It is culled inspiration from petroglyphs of ancient rock art. The Intaglio method of printmaking has begun before 13th century AD. Though it is an ageold technical art process, but updating itself with current scenario, still in vogue.

He congratulated the faculty members for organising the workshop to impart the technical knowledge to the fine art students. Guest of honour Prof K Chandraiah, Prof K Satyanarayana Reddy and Prof Kethu Viswanadha Reddy and others spoke. Faculty members Santosh Kumar, Ch Venkatesh and E Sujatha and students of the Fine Arts department took part in the event.
