Chittoor: In order to prove his integrity and commitment for achieving Special Category Status (SCS) to the state, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu should immediately instruct his Central Ministers to quit, said PCC chief N Raghuveera Reddy.

The DCC organised a dharna at RDO office here on Thursday in which PCC president and other leaders took part. Addressing the Congress workers, Raghuveera said, “The Chief Minister has no courage to demand the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to fulfil all the terms and conditions incorporated in AP Reorganisation Act’’. Raghuveera Reddy declared that Congress party would intensify the agitation in different forms to achieve the SCS.

“Special category status is the right of Andhra Pradesh. AICC president Rahul Gandhi has categorically assured that he would certainly grant the
SCS if Congress comes to power in the 2019 General elections,’’ he added. He alleged that Chief Minister did not have commitment to secure special status to the state who was bargaining for special package. The TDP would never break up its alliance with BJP for it’s political mileage, he alleged.

The PCC chief welcomed the decision of CPI to join hands with other political parties to fight against the Central Government for the cause of SCS. He made it clear that Congress would never accept for special package. He slammed that TDP Government had miserably failed to protect the interests of the state right from the beginning.

Both BJP and TDP would face serious consequences in the elections, he said and expressed confidence that Congress would emerge as powerful force in the next elections.

DCC president Venugopala Reddy, during his address, regretted that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu did not show any interest to develop his native district in any manner. The Congress workers have raised slogans quoting the failures of the Central and state governments. The PCC president then declared the plan of action to be initiated for intensifying the agitation for securing the SCS.
