Vijayawada: Municipal administration minister P Narayana has said the Telugu Desam Party is ready to take any step for protecting the rights of Andhra Pradesh people.

Speaking to media persons here on Thursday, he said that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu already made his stand clear and expressed ire over the attitude of the Centre.

Stating that the Centre had extended financial aid worth Rs 20,000 crore to Bundelkhand region, Narayana asked the Centre as to why it had been neglecting Andhra Pradesh. The state had already submitted a proposal to the Centre seeking financial requirement of Rs 11,600 crore for the capital construction, but it allotted only Rs 1,500 crore, he said.

He asked the BJP leaders to think about funds allocation to the state. However, the BJP did not even follow the coalition dharma, he added. Earlier, reviewing the progress of works in the municipalities with commissioners and officials, Narayana said Rs 11,000 crore would be spent for providing basic amenities in 110 municipalities in the state.

He said the government has responsibility to provide basic facilities like drinking water and sanitation for 43 lakh people residing in municipalities. The greenery and beautification works were being implemented in various municipalities and corporations, he said and asked the officials to ensure speedily completion of works.

He asked them to achieve targets as per the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Municipal Department director Krishna Babu, Swachhaandhra Pradesh managing director Muralidhar Reddy and several officials were also present.
