Markapuram: The PCC president Neelakantapuram Raghuveera Reddy called all parties to keep their politics aside and work on the single agenda, Special Category status to the state.

Speaking at the Andhrula Atma Gourava Deeksha organised by the Congress leaders at Markapuram and Kanigiri, the PCC chief sought support of all parties in the state for the debate on Special Category Status (SCS) and other issues pertaining to AP as per the notice served under rule 184 by the former Union minister Mallikarjuna Kharge.

Speaking to The Hans India, Raghuveera Reddy said, “It is the Congress party that announced the special category status, fighting for it now and getting it implemented tomorrow.

If the BJP didn’t implement the SCS at least this year, the first file that Rahul Gandhi is going to sign on will be the SCS to Andhra Pradesh. If the TDP and BJP could have implemented the SCS in these four years, the state could have developed a lot. It is due to the continuous fight of Congress, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who once said that the SCS was not required, started to demand for it.

“April 5 would be last date for our final fight for the SCS and there would be no use later. We demand all parties to support the notice given by Mallikarjuna Kharge seeking a debate on AP issues and participate in the voting.”

Raghuveera said, “Congress is the only party that could move a no confidence motion. In Parliament, we are demanding the government to announce the special category status to the state and amend the budgetary allocations as per it. At the same time, we are also demanding the BJP and TDP to make amendments to the Andhra Pradesh State Reorganisation Bill so that no one would complain about the flaws in it in future.

As we served notice under rule 184, with which we could discuss the Andhra Pradesh issues. But no confidence motion should be moved against the cabinet, against issues all over the country.” As part of Andhrula Atma Gourava Deeksha, the PCC president and other Congress leaders have been touring various places in the state
