Kurnool: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders of all the four districts of Rayalaseema made several declarations for the development of Rayalaseema and briefed them during a press conference held here on Friday. Out of the demands were, Kurnool to be made second capital and establishment of High Court in the Rayalaseema region are the main issues.

BJP State Vice-President K Kapileshwaraiah, addressing the meeting, demanded that Kurnool be made second capital as the people of Rayalaseema are treated as secondary citizens. He urged the government to take up land acquisition process for the second capital. He also asked the government to construct Assembly building in Kurnool for conducting sessions, as is in practice in Karnataka and Maharashtra.

Construction of temporary bhavan for Governor’s stay and Chief Minister’s Bhavan are also the demands made by Kapileshwaraiah. He also demanded the government to set up High Court in Rayalaseema including temporary High Court that is planned to set up in Vijayawada. He requested the government to allocate Rs 20,000 crores budget according to the population ratio besides fulfilling the promises made to Rayalaseema.

The declaration also demands formation of four new districts in addition to the existing ones. The Vice-President said, “we welcome the construction of Polavaram, Pattiseema and Purushotapatnam projects. But there is also dire need to construct Guru Raghavendra, Siddeswaram Alugu and Gundrevula projects in Kurnool which are lifeline of Rayalaseema. He also demanded a high-level probe on the corruption that has taken place in the construction of irrigation projects.

The BJYM State President S Vishnu Vardhan Reddy came down heavily on Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and alleged that none of his promises were fulfilled. He is only concentrating on the development of coastal region ignoring Rayalaseema, he said. He says that Rayalaseema is also an integral part of Andhra Pradesh and same kind of developments need to be done here.

He demanded the government to set up High Court in Rayalaseema region. BJP state general secretary S Suresh Reddy, Kurnool district president K Harish Babu, Anantapur district president Ankal Reddy, Chittoor district president Chandra Reddy, Kadapa district president Sreenath Reddy and others participated in the regional meeting.
