2 SIs, constable suspended
In two separate cases, Police Commissioner D Gautam Sawang suspended two sub-inspectors and a constable working in Bhavanipuram and SN Puram police stations on Saturday.
Vijayawada: In two separate cases, Police Commissioner D Gautam Sawang suspended two sub-inspectors and a constable working in Bhavanipuram and SN Puram police stations on Saturday.
In the first instance, Bhavanipuram SI Salaam was suspended for his negligence in a road rage case between a lawyer and a labourer. A motorbike accident involving a lawyer and a labourer led to advocates calling for boycott of courts on Wednesday after police registered a case against the former on Tuesday.
Lawyer Md Yasin Sharief and the labourer Yella Shiva, crashed into each other at Sivalayam Centre in Bhavanipuram on Tuesday and Siva’s wife, riding pillion received a head injury. Angered over this, Siva attacked Yasin. Both of them lodged complaints against each other. Under the orders of Sawang, an internal inquiry was launched and eventually SI Salaam was suspended.
In the second incident that took place on Saturday, lawyers, who were protesting for special assistance at Dharna Chowk, ended up having a spat with local police officers over vehicle parking issue. Lawyers alleged that two police personnel were abusive and misbehaved with them. Soon after an inquiry, SN Puram SI Ganesh and constable were suspended.
