Private Inter colleges mint money to issue hall tickets
As the Intermediate exams are going to start from February 28, Intermediate Regional Inspection Officer (RIO) of the Board of Intermediate Education has made all arrangements for smooth conduct of exams.
Kurnool: As the Intermediate exams are going to start from February 28, Intermediate Regional Inspection Officer (RIO) of the Board of Intermediate Education has made all arrangements for smooth conduct of exams. About 76,078 students are appearing for the Inter exams in 115 centres across the district. The students and their parents are busy making rounds to the colleges for collecting the hall tickets.

Taking the advantage of students, the managements of private and corporate colleges are collecting additional amount for issuing the hall tickets. It is learnt that the colleges are collecting the money on the pretext of attendance shortage, fee due, Eamcet coaching and special classes conducted during the academic year.
If a student has less than 60 per cent of attendance then he has to pay Rs 5,000, said a source. While seeking admission in their colleges, the managements use to lure the students that they will provide fee concession besides conducting special classes to competitive exams at free of cost.
Compared to previous years, it is said that they have collected Rs 10,000 extra to what was collected previous year. A parent from Ganesh Nagar said that a corporate college representative after approaching him has confirmed a seat to his daughter in MPC for Rs 30,000. Later, they have collected another Rs 5,000 on the name of books and exam fee. Now, they are demanding another Rs 5,000 for issuing hall ticket, he alleged. There are around 226 junior colleges in the district.
Out of 226, 42 are government, 32 Adarsha, 87 private, 18 corporate and 47 other management colleges. Especially, the private and corporate colleges are said to be collecting huge amount from the students to issue hall tickets as against the orders of the Board of Intermediate Education Commissioner Udayalakshmi.
In a review meeting through video conference, Udayalakshmi has directed the officials concerned to take stringent action against college managements which were collecting an additional amount for issuing hall tickets. But, none of the private and corporate college are paying heed to the orders of Commissioner. When asked about the unauthorised collection of amount by the private and corporate colleges, an official from Regional Inspection Office (RIO) not interested to disclose his name and respond on the issue.
