Revenue department to spend 870 cr for lands digitalisation

Vijayawada: The Revenue department has ambitious plans to spend Rs 870 crore for digitalisation of land records, says Deputy Chief Minister K E Krishnamurthy.

Addressing a workshop of Revenue and Survey departments here on Tuesday, the Deputy Chief Minister has said the problems of surveyors and revenue department would be solved after verifying them at grass-root level. Already, the Revenue department has digitalised 40 lakh FMBs, he said and asked the officials to set targets to solve grievances.

Krishna Murthy, who is also Revenue Minister, has asked the officials to delete the details of private lands from 22-A list for which already the State government has given instructions in this regard.

He expressed displeasure over the attitude of the officials who are delaying to solve the people's grievances including 22-A. He also wondered as to how the officials included several private lands in the 22-A list without proper proceedings.

The government lands record should be prepared after completion of deleting the lands from 22-A. The minister also suggested them to make plans to construct all the office buildings for the Revenue department in one compound.

The decision would be taken for house sites regularisation on March 15 under the supervision of ministers' committee. He also instructed the officials to take steps against the illegal practices like tampering of records and inordinate delay in providing services to the public.

The Revenue Department Special Chief Secretary Manmohan Singhsaid that the government would regularise another 40,000 house-sites soon. The government is finalisingthe policy to regularise encroached house sites in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam cities.

The Revenue and Registrations Department Special Chief secretary Anil Chandra Puneetha, Joint Collectors of 13 districts, the RDOs and other officials were present at the meeting.
