Vamsadhara displaced persons attack tahsildar

Srikakulam: Vamsadhara Project displaced people attacked Hiramandal tahsildar M Kaliprasad at Duggupuram village on Wednesday. According to sources, the tahsildar was touring the colonies established for Duggupuram village displaced people. However the displaced people asked him to clear pending payments and fulfil the promise before evacuation.

The tahsildar told them that it was not in his hands and he reported the issue to higher officials. In the meantime, the displaced entered into an argument with the tahsildar. Subsequently, some displaced persons attacked the tahsildar. He sustained injuries and was shifted to a private hospital in Srikakulam for treatment.

On receiving information, Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy rushed to the spot and collected details on the attack and assured the project displaced that their payments would be cleared soon.

The revenue officials lodged a complaint with the police against those who attacked the tahsildar. Following the complaint, the police registered cases against 13 persons and took seven of them into custody. Meanwhile, the displaced families also lodged a counter complaint against the revenue staff.
