Tirupati: To undertake good research, soul and mind should be integrated whereas in USA, Association of Psychologists were arguing that both are separate, observed the Vice-Chancellor of Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) Prof V Muralidhara Sharma.

He has participated as chief guest in the valedictory function of 14-day capacity building programme on “Training course on recent trends in research methodology” sponsored by ICSSR, New Delhi and organised by Department of Economics, Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) here on Wednesday.

Addressing the participants, Prof Sharma said that Indian culture had scientific proof for every activity. “We have to ensure whether the society is benefitting by our research by correlating our research fruits with problems of society. Unfortunately, quality of research has been coming down gradually,” he opined.

SVU College of Arts Principal Prof G Savaraiah called upon the scholars to understand the latest developments in software packages and abundantly use in the social sciences. All Nobel prize winners introduced many concepts to enrich social science. He expressed hope that a two-week course has benefitted the participants immensely.

Course Director and Head of the Economics department Prof K Santha Kumari explained that research scholars from several universities across the country have participated in the training programme to sharpen their intellectual enrichment and pursue their research more effectively. Several resource persons, who were having experience in their respective fields, have enlightened the scholars about various key features of the research.

She recalled that a field visit to the RASS was organised to make the participants understand the social and ethical responsibilities towards society. Co-course Director and UGC Emeritus fellow Prof A Ranga Reddy presided over the function in which Prof R Suneetha has welcomed the guests while Dr K Radhika introduced the chief guest to the participants. Prof D Krishnamurthy has proposed a vote of thanks.
