Tirupati: Union minister of state for human resource development Dr Satya Pal Singh has called for promotion of Vedic education across India.

Inaugurating the three-day South India Vedic Conference, jointly organised by Sri Venkateswara Vedic University and Maharshi Sandipani Rastriya Veda Vidya Pratisthan (MSRRVVP), Ujjain, here on Friday, he stressed the importance of Vedas and their relationship with Science.

“Wherever Vedas presence can be felt, they will flourish and even the Vedic education should be promoted in Kashmir,” he said. He said that India was surrounded on the four sides by four different Vedapeethas and added like the food is to body, Vedic sound gives immense happiness to mind.

People make a lot of efforts to have a darshan of Lord Venkateswara and the same type of devotion was required to listen to Vedas, he stated.
The minister lauded the efforts of TTD in preserving Vedas and observed that Vedic knowledge and science go together.

Stating that Sanskrit knowledge helps in acquiring skills in Vedas, the minister said those having scientific knowledge can understand Vedas well and added for a human being, Vedic knowledge was as important as oxygen. If scientists and vedic scholars work together, they can make miracles, observed the minister.

He assured that the government will see that Vedic scholars get good recognition in the country and announced the increase of scholarship to scholars who make remarkable contributions in the field of Vedas to Rs 5 lakh for 12 persons each from the existing Rs 1 lakh.

The guest of honour and Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) Vice Chancellor Prof V Muralidhara Sharma underlined the importance of Sanskrit language saying that a Vedic scholar with Sanskrit knowledge will glitter like a gold.

The V-C assured that RSVP will cooperate to Vedic University in all spheres. Vice Chairman of MSRRVVP Prof Ravindra Ambadas Mule said that preserving Vedas was compulsory and everyone should contribute their might into that just as their institution was doing.

Vedic varsity registrar P Visvanath felicitated the guests. Vedic scholars from AP, Telangana, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala participated in the conference. Vedic varsity students made yoga demonstration before the dignitaries and received huge applause.

MSRRVVP Vice Chancellor Prof Virupaksha Jaddipal, Dr Tarakarama Sarma, Dr Umesh Bhat, deans Sreenivasacharyulu and Subrahmanya Sarma took part. Earlier, the Union minister Dr Satya Pal Singh visited the Vedic exhibition held at the administrative building.
