Flights to Kolkata, Ahmedabad soon
Kolkata and Ahmedabad will get air connectivity from Vijayawada soon. According to airport authorities, the flight services will be launched for the two important cities keeping in view the demand from trade community.

The dates, however, have not yet been fixed. Already air services are available for Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi from Vijayawada. If the Kolkata service is launched, the flight services will be available to all major cities in the country from Vijayawada.
Vijayawada Airport director G Madhusudana Rao speaking to The Hans India said that the air connectivity was provided to all important cities in the state. With the bifurcation of the state and Amaravati becoming its capital, Vijayawada airport is gaining importance.
One flight service was inaugurated for Kadapa from Vijayawada on Thursday by the Airport director. Trujet has come forward to start the service. The flight service starts from Vijayawada at 8.05 am and returns at 10.30 am.
On the other hand, another private operator will also start air services from Vijayawada to Hyderabad, Chennai and Bengaluru on Friday. There is proposal to operate services for Jaipur.
Already flight services are available for Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. As many as 52 services are being run from Vijayawada. There are plans to operate services for foreign countries and works for it would be completed soon.
